2011 Calendar Case and Mailer Kits–Round Three

Because of the high demand for these kits, I am offering them one more time. These kits are truly awesome because the only work you will need to do to them is to start stamping!

I had the Stampin Up Whisper White card stock printed with the 2011 calendar and cut to 4x6. All of the colored card stock is also from Stampin Up so your colors match perfectly.

As a bonus, I have been providing the Calendar Case pouch also. It’s a clear bag with a sealing strip that allows you to insert the case into the bag and then box it up. It keeps the case and your project in perfect shape!

Here’s the skinny:

I am SO excited to bring you this project! I can hardly contain myself because it’s the PERFECT Christmas gift for just about anybody on your list. (Yep, even the guys!)

This calendar case is different because it’s 4x6 (the same size as a standard size photograph.) I’ve formatted 2011 monthly calendars onto my all-time favorite, 4x6 Whisper White card stock with each of the twelve months. The case is made just like a cd case only 4x6! The monthly calendars fit inside the case. Then to display, just turn the case “inside out” and slip the calendars inside. It is designed to sit at a 45 degree angle and are the perfect size for the desk. When the year is over, make more! Or insert photographs for your desk! SAY you love it!

My samples are each different and stamped individually. Included with the kit is a printed copy of each of the twelve designs and a supply list so you can recreate them yourself or be inspired to create your own.

My favorite thing about these kits? It has GOT to be the perfectly-sized cardboard mailers that come with them. These make your gift “presentable.”

Stamp the outside and
tie a ribbon or
just address it and MAIL!

I’m telling ya’ll – these are the perfect gift!

Don’t be overwhelmed by the beautiful stamped designs. If this is a gift for Grandparents, attach pictures of the kids instead of stamping or let the children decorate the calendars.

Here’s what you get in a kit:

Craft Fair #5–More pictures and More fun!

Craft show 10

Here’s some more fun pictures of my craft show layout. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but you can ALWAYS click on the pictures to zoom in and get up close enough to kiss your favorite projects!

craft show 11

Lots of emails have come in and you ALL want to know the same thing!

HOW MUCH TO PRICE IT?

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST SELLER?

Well now that I’ve won a “major award” and have ONE craft show under my belt, I’ve decided to trade in my Demo Apron for an Expert Hat! Ha Ha! Really, to tell the truth, it seems that craft shows are a lot like yard sales, ebay auctions and other similar “venues.” You just plain don’t know! What sells at one might not sell at another. I think sometimes the environment affects what might sell. Like if it’s a Christmas show and everybody’s all hyped on Rudolph, your Snowman poop will probably sell better!

craft show 12

I tried to ask myself these questions when choosing items to make for the craft fair:

  • Would I want this?
  • Would I be willing to pay what it’s worth if the price reflected the labor that really went into it?
  • Would I want this? Hee hee….

Spend the time on the items that are just plain cute and simple and don’t COST so much. NOT the things you can get “one just like it” at the store down the street for a fraction of the cost!

Best thing about the craft fair?

craft show 13

GOT to be meeting the people! I am all about meeting somebody new and learning what makes them special.

This picture is of me and Rose, my new friend! ROSE is some kinda awesome. I learned that she used to raise Angora rabbits for their fur. She then SPUN (as in spinning wheel, Sleeping Beauty!) the fur into thread used to make hats and other items out of. She used to demonstrate this at artisan fairs and museums. Know how I learned about it? Just CHIT-Chatting and running my mouth! I wish I lived closer to Rose. I’m DYING to see that spinning wheel and get my own finger pricked! :)

craft show 14

OH, did I mention that I won a MAJOR AWARD for best in show in my category? And that it included PRIZE MONEY? I hate to brag but I was literally jumping up and down and hugging the director and the judge. Who woulda thought?

My stamping besties and friends deserve the credit. Because without them telling me that “it’s not crap” and “no, you have A LOT here” I just woulda quit! Call me Miss “N” for negativity. (Actually that’s what those same people who say they love me called me!) Thanks – you know who you are! Every one of you – I love you!

NOW, LET’S TAKE IT OUTDOORS NEXT SATURDAY!

Planning on Shag Dancing to the Coppertones and eating more funnel cakes at the Chitlin Strut in Salley, South Carolina.

BOY, I wish you girls from out west and up north
and down under could come with us!

Craft Fair #4 And the WINNER IS….

Craft show 1Ya’ll!  I was so nervous and so worried about the first craft show I’ve ever done.  So imagine how EXCITED and THRILLED I was when I won a cash prize of $100 and a HUGE blue ribbon for Best of Show in the Other crafts category at the Jubilee in Bennettsville?  Love the ribbon, don’t you???

I had such a good time!  And crazy?  I went all out - - I even wore the apron, made myself a cutesy little fabric flower pin using the Big Shot, added my pins I’ve gotten from Stampin Up for promotions, etc.  I WAS Crafty Carla!  So NOT me!  Or is it?  The pockets in the apron WERE prety cool and very convenient!   Kinda like driving a van!craft show 7

I set my 10x10 space up in a u-shape thinking that people would just walk right on “in” my little store!  But never considered where I would be.  I needed a cage or a podium or something to be stationed in because I was ALWAYS right in the way.  A little TOO enthusiastic maybe?

Don’t ya’ll love those tablecloths?  I got them from a wedding supply place for a total of $50 for ALL of them.  They are fitted, go to the floor and fit my three 6 foot tables and one 4 foot table.  I love them!

Craft Show 2

I guess being right in the way and wearing my apron and red shoes was a great way to meet people.  There were lots of just really nice folks in Bennettsville.  (HI, everybody!)  So here’s some more pictures of the “layout” for you to see…

Craft Show 4

I tried to group like colors together and you’ll notice there’s a lot of the same paper and the same stamp set images used!Craft Show 3

I used my MDS software and Word to make my own little tent signs for the prices.  I will probably re-do these because even though they look nice - - they are small print and hard to FIND!craft show 6

Also, WE Stampin Up demonstrators recognize things like gift card holders for what they are but a sign sure helps those who have never seen a really cool tin of magnets!  Of course, I’m happy to demonstrate!

craft show 5 copy

I used a cookbook to display the bookmarks and baskets to put stuff in!  Notice that SAME stamp set!  And I wasn’t even gonna order it!

craft show 8

I really do wish I had some cool display stuff for the things I want to hang and the things I want to highlight or show off at a higher angle.  I bet YOU know what would work.  Please share it here….  please?craft show 9

Bored yet?  There’s still MORE!  Here’s the last picture I will share with you today.  It’s your turn to talk – tell me what you think and send me your suggestions!  Because I’m gonna do it all over again this weekend in Salley, South Carolina, at The Chitlin Strut!  I’ll be outdoors and will have a tent….can’t wait!  I’ll have some more to show you in the next few days including close ups of the projects, the prices I charged and where the directions are to make your own!

Santa Suit Test Tube Gift Card Holders–Craft Fair #3

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

Here’s some more craft fair goodies for you! These are just too too fun! Pictured are gift card holders dressed up as Santa suits! AND they have a test tube full of SIXLETS as a bonus! I happen to LOVE Sixlets and put away a bag of them while making these. Chocolate does make me happy and so do these fun little gifts.

SantaTest Tube Gift Card Holders
design by Gretchen Barron
Click HERE for link to her design and instructions

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>This is a nice generic gift card holder. Not too feminine, not too juvenile….just right!

I am planning to keep a bunch of these on hand for gifts to the mailman, the bus driver, etc. Tuck in a little cash or gift card!

Be sure to visit Gretchen and let her know what you think of this project or get the instructions or kit for yourself. Also, leave me a comment and tell me what you think we should charge for them!

CRAFT FAIR TIP

Unfortunately, I don’t have all the awesome shelving and cool retail point of sale fixtures. DUH – it’s a craft show! So I decided to use various baskets to display a lot of the items. <SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>Baskets are super cheap and you should be able to find them in the Dollar Stores, Goodwill, yard sales, etc. Keep your eye out all year for the perfect baskets. I am really partial to the shallow and long baskets like the one shown above. Be sure to enlist your dearest friends and loved ones and beg them ALL to be on the lookout - -it’s a big job!

Jolly Bingo Bits–Craft Fair #2

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

Yep, these are MORE of the same magnetic refrigerator notepads I showed you yesterday.  (Be sure to check out that post because there’s links to the instructions!)  Notice that they look TOTALLY different but they were made using the same stamp set!  This is how I am making a ton of stuff in a very short period of time.  I have also enlisted everybody I know to help!  My stamping girlfriends are the best and I’ve even roped my mom (who does NOT stamp) and kids!

Once you make a thing for a show you only have half of it done!  You still need to figure out how to price it, what to call it and how to display and market it.  In this case, I decided that the notepads might get a little “shuffled” by being on the table or in a basket so I added a little ribbon around the middle of the pad.  It looks cute but it also serves a purpose:  to cut down on the temptation to FAN out the pages!  (Don’t get me wrong!  I’m all about FANNING!)

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

To display these cuties, I pulled an old platter out of my cabinet and fanned them out.  Notice that the ones from yesterday are NOT in this display!  That’s because I’m envisioning a “Swoozies” type booth so am planning to put my items together by color families which are based on the Designer Papers I chose to use for the fair.

Stay tuned…I will have more items to show every day for a while and will include a final price list, etc.  So if you’re not a subscriber to my blog, DO IT NOW!  You won’t want to miss this amateur’s attempt at craft fair vending!

Jolly Bingo Bits Craft Fair #1

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>As promised!  Today is the first day of a series of blog posts to show you all the stuff I’m making for the upcoming craft fairs.  Now you KNOW I’m just not so talented that I can think up all this stuff on my own so I’ll be posting the links to the sources I found the ideas and instructions from.

Magnetic Grocery List Notepads
design by Angie Kennedy Juda
Click HERE for link to her design and instructions

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

My notepads were actually only cut in half.  The staples on the 5x8 pads were in the way so mine are actually 2-1/2 x 8 when they were finished.  The “backing” was cut to 2-3/4 x 8-1/4.  For those of you who live close to me, I went to the Fedex Office place (used to be Kinkos) and they cut twelve pads for me for $3.00.  These little cuties are perfect for party favors, stocking stuffers, basket stuffers for Christmas gifts, etc.

I didn’t decide to sign up for any craft fairs until just a couple of weeks ago and the first show is THIS SATURDAY!  So I had to be a little creative with my ideas.

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>I would LOVE to have all these individually designed projects but here’s what I did:

1.  I purchased the Jolly Bingo Bits and stamped like a crazy person.

2.  I got out my Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/8” Circle Punch and 1” Circle Punch and punched like a crazy person.

3.  I layered the pieces together and you will see that they are appearing in MOST of the projects I will be offering at the Craft Fair.

I chose a couple of sets of Designer Paper (Jolly Holiday and Candy Cane Christmas) and coordinated all of the card stock, ribbons, etc. with them.  This made it easier to stamp IN MASS with matching inks.

BONUS:  When I display the items, it reminds me of Swoozies because it ALL goes together and that makes this OCD chick happy!

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

Be sure to check out Angie’s link and let her know how you found her.  She is uber-talented and has a jillion creative but simple project ideas!
