Jolly Holiday and Contempo Christmas Scrapbook Page…the perfect combination!

Today’s share is a super-quick scrapbook page for you! I used the “Progressive Page” method to design a really easy layout that just looks intricate! I do have to say, though, that the Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper and that yummy Cherry Cobbler Card Stock make everything look good.

So here’s the low-down:

1. Create a 6x6 page. We made this one at one of my home workshops the other day. Very easy, right? Well, you could stop right here and create a special 6x6 album or just keep going……

2. Stick the 6x6 page onto a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 card stock. (It’s the Very Vanilla piece in the background! I DID scallop punch the top edge for even more interest.)

If you were creating an 8-1/2 x 11 page, you could easily stop here. You can always turn the elements on their sides if you like your album vertically. The added element is really only the additional piece of Old Olive card stock I used to create a journaling area. If you stop here, you might want to add a border using the gorgeous polka dot paper.

Of course, you could go all the way…..

3. Attach the 8-1/2 x 11 piece to the 12 x 12 page base and add a few more elements! I just added a piece of card stock, a piece of designer paper and the numbers “2010” cut using the Big Shot.

Now, tell me again why you haven’t started a scrapbook?

Here’s some ideas for these little beauties:

  • Hang them on the Dining Room chairs as place markers
  • Hang them on a Christmas tree as decorations and party favors
  • Hang them on a clothes hanger in your closet
  • Slide them in a lingerie drawer
  • Store them with your linens

Now it’s your turn! Leave a comment with YOUR best idea!

Wicked Cool Halloween Treats

Just a quick share today because I’ve been MASS-PRODUCING!  If ya’ll know me, then you know that my kids are the most important things to me in pretty much the entire universe.  (I think I just sounded like Sponge-Bob there..)   I love to do things special for them so they know how much I love them and think it’s even more fun when we can do something to show friends we care too!

Today’s treats were made for Maci Ellen’s first grade class and Emily’s friends at school.  Emily is a Senior this year and I just have to say that I’m trying to bribe her with candy to stay home next year instead of shipping off to college.

039Okay, enough of my bragging!  The top picture is of some treats put together using the Skinny Bags that you all so graciously shared with me!  I love a deal and buying them as a group saved us all a little bit!  These are the treats Emily is taking to the high school.  We filled them with chocolate-covered raisins and tied a cute little tag at the top.   We punched a Scallop Circle from Rich Razzleberry Card Stock, a 1-3/8 circle from Old Olive Card Stock and a 1-1/4” circle from Daffodil Delight Card Stock.  The Daffodil Delight circle was stamped with the spider web from the Wicked Cool stamp set in Basic Gray ink.  Then we stamped the sentiment from the same set in Black Staz On ink right over it.  All three of the layers were glued together.  The little pumpkin from the Fang-tastic stamp set was stamped in Black Staz On and cut out from a scrap of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock and attached with a dimensional.  We punched a hole in the top and tied it to the skinny bag with a piece of twine.  LOVE!

Maci Ellen is taking these cute treat boxes made just like the ones from the Twelve Weeks of Christmas – Week 6.  I cased it from SOMEBODY  - if you know who, do tell!

Are they not just too cute?  Maci Ellen MIGHT have overdone it with the bats but she was just SO HAPPY sticking them on there.  Which makes me happy too.

Check out the chocolate….

I hope you have a great weekend and find a chance to share and eat chocolate.    :)

Christmas Cheer Advent Calendar

I’m kind of excited to bring you WEEK EIGHT of the TWELVE WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS free tutorials.  If you haven’t been following along with us, these gift ideas and instructions are my gift to you!  I am so thankful for my customer, my friends, my followers and, well, YOU!

Today’s project is a special Christmas Advent Calendar.  It only looks like it’s hard or complicated but really it is SO SIMPLE using the elements from the Christmas Cheer Simply Scrappin Kit.  It is a simple frame with magnets attached so that bottle caps can be attached all around the frame.

The ornament in the middle is raised and has a magnet behind it so that the “Countdown” magnet can be placed there.

PLEASE PLEASE leave me a comment and tell me what you think.  I will plan to hang mine using a piece of the gorgeous 1-1/4” Marina Mist Striped Ribbon.  Uh, YES, it ALL coordinates.  Gotta love Stampin’ Up!

Here is the link to the TWELVE WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS free tutorials.

Easy Scrapbooking with Contempo Christmas Card Bundle at 20% OFF!

I hear girls say all the time to me that they wish they could scrapbook.  That they just don’t know HOW.  Well, this is a great place to start.  If you make cards, it’s the SAME THING!  If you don’t, it’s an easy place to start paper crafting.

Today’s project was made using the Jolly Holiday Designer Paper and the Contempo Christmas Stamp Set that are on sale right now as part of the Handmade Holiday Sale.  So I’m gonna break it down for you!

026

1.  Using the Scallop Edge Border Punch, create a scalloped border down one side of a piece of 12” Old Olive Card Stock.027

2.  Now trim this piece so that it is 1-1/2” x 12”.

3.  Put a little bit of adhesive (I like to use Snail Adhesive or tape runner) on the back of this piece and attach a 13” piece of 1/4” Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon.  Bring it around to the front and attach to the back of the other side.

 029

0304.  Flip it over and adhere a 3/4” x 12” piece of the Old Olive Polka Dot Designer Paper right above the ribbon you just attached.  It will now look like this… 031

5.  Attach this completed element to the page base which is a 12” x 12” piece of the Designer Paper from the Jolly Holidays set (and can I say that I LOVE it?).  It needs to be about 1-1/2” from the top of the page and I used Snail Adhesive to attach it to the page.   Put it on the page so that the scalloped part is on top and the ribbon is on the bottom.032

6.  Your pictures are next!  You will need TWO 4x6 pictures of your favorite holiday memory.  It’s really fun to match the colors of your page.  If the colors clash, consider printing the pictures in black and white!  I have a 4x12 piece of Very Vanilla card stock on my page to show you where to place the pictures.  They need to go side by side right up next to the element you've already adhered to the page.   033

7.  Now I have to say, I added this in because I ADORE the Tasteful Trims die.  BUT, you COULD use the Scallop Border Punch and repeat the first step.  If you wanted to.  DO YOU?  So, the next step in my page was to cut out a piece of Old Olive Card Stock using the 034Big Shot and the Tasteful Trims Die.  Then I used the Crop-a-dile to punch holes in each of the scallops.  Overkill?  I think not!  :)

0358.  Trim this piece to 3/4” x 12” and set it aside.

9.  Cut a  1-1/4 x 12” piece of the Old Old Polka Dot Designer Paper.  Adhere it to the page right up next to your pictures.  Then stick the punched out Scalloped element right on top of it.  Make sure the straight edges and together and the scalloped edge is towards the bottom of the page.  Cute, huh? 037

10.  Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock 1/2” x 12” and stick it onto the page RIGHT under the Designer Paper.  See the picture on the left for an up close of the strips.

 043

11.  Cut three pieces of Very Vanilla Card Stock 3/4” x 3”.  These are your journaling strips where you will make little personal notes about the picture.  If you have ALOT to say, make them longer!  I don’t like journaling so 3” is ENOUGH!  Hee Hee!  As a matter of fact, I’ve added some Basic Pearls to the right of them and colored them red with a marker to keep from having to write any more than I have to!  These strips go down in the bottom right hand section of the page.  Attach them right up next to the edge of the page and leave a border around the top and bottom.

Your page is pretty much done.  Now it’s just a matter of decorating.  You could put stickers on it.  Stamp images and attach them—whatever.  The BASIC layout of the page is complete.

040 12.  Stamp the “Merry Christmas” image from the Contempo Christmas Stamp Set on to a scrap of Very Vanilla Card Stock.  Punch it out using the Decorative Label XL punch that is in the Holiday Mini Catalog (download it from the left sidebar of this page!).  Make a mat for this piece by following this little “video tutorial” from the North Shore Stamper.   042Attach three Basic Pearls to the top right of the piece and color them with a marker.  (WHAT?  IS that a Copic?  OOPS…LOL)

13.  Now to make the holly leaves?  I wish I had some scientific way to tell you.  I literally freehanded and cut them out.  I punched a piece of Old Olive Card Stock using the Oval punch and then just cut it to “look” like leaves.  I’m pretty sure you can do better.  After I did this twice, I crunched up and rubbed the leaves until the paper began to split in two.  If you pull it apart, you will then have FOUR leaves.  I folded them in half so it had kind of a “vein” and attach two of them using Stampin Dimensionals.  You can see where all of the elements were placed on the page by checking out the finished product.

okay, maybe it’s a little work but it’s not ROCKET SCIENCE!  You can do it!

Get to scrappin!

If you found this little lesson helpful, be sure to check out the Scrapbook planners in the left sidebar.  They are wonderful for beginning scrapbookers.  You will receive a complete supply list with all of the Stampin Up product numbers, cutting guides and step by step instructions just like this!

Demonstrator FAQ’s

What will I do as a demonstrator?

You will share your love of creating cards, gifts and/or scrapbook pages with family and friends. You can do this through sharing one-on-one, doing in-home workshops, classes and/or other events. If you choose to, you will also help others enjoy the fun and flexibility of running their own Stampin’ Up! business. Will I receive support and training as a demonstrator? By joining you will become part of my team, and I’ll provide you with all the help and support you need — but I will never push or pressure you to do more than you desire. Whether your goals are to just support your stamping habit or you want to build a successful business, I am here to help. I will be here for you at all times – all you have to do is call or email me! On top of that, Stampin’ Up! provides the following:

  • A 24/7 demonstrator website for demonstrator resources and online ordering
  • A full color monthly magazine with creative and business ideas just for demonstrators
  • An 800# with knowledgeable and friendly Demonstrator Support agents
  • A beautiful and affordable company sponsored demonstrator business website you can set up in minutes
  • An achievable incentive program for income and awards if you choose to aspire to them

How will I make money as a demonstrator? Since customers pay you directly, you will keep 20% of each order placed at the time of their payment. You can earn additional money (up to 40% total) through volume rebates when your monthly sales are $400 and above. If you build a team, you can also earn monthly downline overrides.

Do people really make money at this?
YES!! Depending on how much time you want to put into “your” business, you can make whatever income you desire! It is totally up to you!

Do I have to recruit other demonstrators? Of course not!! Having a downline is not a requirement, it is a perk – we have the opportunity to earn a commission based on our downline’s sales!

What are the minimum sales requirements? To stay active as a demonstrator you will need to sell a minimum of $300 per quarter. Most demonstrators find that this goal can be reached in one or two workshops per quarter–or with their own purchases.

What if I only want to do this as a hobby? Do I still have to do workshops? Absolutely not!! Stampin’ Up! supports the hobby demonstrator just like the career demonstrator. You can put in your own order or collect orders from family & friends that equal $300 a quarter.
Do I have to stock product? No. You will only order items when someone places an order and pays you in advance, so you won’t need to keep inventory of products.

How much does it cost to get started? The Starter Kit is only $175 plus tax. This kit is customizable (choose your own sets at stated price points and you may change some accessory colors) for a total of $310 in product for only $175. It includes everything you will need to get your business up and running—including stamps and accessories as well as business supplies.

What if I decide it’s not for me once I’ve started? Will I be penalized if I quit? You simply stop placing orders. If you don’t meet the minimum requirement, Stampin’ Up! will just “drop” you—no penalties, no questions asked! But I guarantee that once you start you won’t want to stop!!

What kind of incentives will I receive as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator? There are so many perks with this business that I don’t know where to start! Here are just a few for new demonstrators offered .

  • As a new demonstrator, you will have the opportunity to earn up to 9 free stamp sets during your first 6 months for your sales and recruiting
  • 30% commission on your first workshop order of $150 or more, if you place it within 45 days of signing up.
  • The ability to be your own “hostess” and earn free hostess sets and merchandise on your own personal orders
  • You can earn free catalog product, logo merchandise and supply items depending upon your sales and downline promotions each quarter
  • You can work to achieve the annual incentive trip for two… the company gives you five ways to earn it!

Where do I get ideas for my workshops? Stampin’ Up! has many resources for demonstrators, including the Idea Book & Catalog, a great monthly magazine, a fantastic website for demonstrators only, a wonderful video in the starter kit, and much more. I also post my workshop cards on our team blog. It is OKAY to copy projects from these resources—that is what they are for! You don’t have to ever think of an original idea if you don’t want to.

Do I have to attend meetings? There is always something going on which include a combination of business and stamping events which are completely optional, but a lot of fun if you choose to come!

Are there any Stampin’ Up! events that I can attend as a new demonstrator? Yes, and they are a blast! Every year in July there is the annual convention. Imagine several thousand crazy stampers in one place for 4 days! There are also regional training events throughout the country each year, and local events organized BY Stampin’ Up! demonstrators FOR Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.

Do you really love what you do? I absolutely LOVE what I do and I know you will, too. One of the reasons I love it so much is because of the friendships I have made. Some of my best friends are demonstrators who I would not have met if it were not for Stampin’ Up! This is just the best job in the entire world!!!!I hope I answered some of your questions. I would love to share more about this fun opportunity with you. If you have further questions or would like more information, please ask! Remember, there is no commitment just for asking—what do you have to lose??

Week Seven of the Twelve Weeks of Christmas

This is a pretty fun and awfully easy project I’m bringing you this week! It is a tri-fold portfolio and holds three individual card size pull-outs. The sample is made to hold GIFT CARDS! The whole thing folds up to a regular size piece of mail and seals just like an envelope so you can drop it in the mail to loved ones this Christmas.

Just think of those families too far away to see. It’s too expensive to mail huge packages and the teenagers are too hard to buy for! They want I-Tunes cards and the like…..SO here’s your solution! Each pull-out gift card holder on the sample is labeled with the child’s name!

Or, how about mailing THREE gift cards to that college student or newly married couple. Sorry, I’m getting carried away because I just loved this idea.

It is WEEK SEVEN of the Twelve Weeks of Christmas series and the Tutorial to make your own is FREE. It contains a complete list of supplies and step by step instructions with full-color pictures. Click HERE to see all of the tutorials offered during the series including this one.

Like it? Leave me a comment! If you make it yourself I sure would love to see it! I love to share pictures and links to your projects on my Facebook page. Check it out by Becoming a FAN! I will be running a sale on the Wicked Fun Scrapbook Class available ONLY to Facebook Fans so don’t miss out!
