Full of Life Joy Fold Card

Today’s post is yet another of the cards we did at our Fancy Folds Cards Class. This one was probably the easiest. (hee! hee!) The cute little lion image is from the set, “Fox and Friends” from the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog. (DON’T FORGET! Last day to order is August 31.) The sentiment is from the Idea Book and Catalog and is “Full of Life.” I used markers to ink the stamped sentiment and I love how it looks.

Want to make your own Joy-Fold Card? Here's some simple measurements to make one like mine:

1. Cut your card base to 4-1/4" x 8-1/2". Score it at 5-1/2".
2. Cut the "flap" to 3" x 8". Score it at 4".
Click HERE for an awesome tutorial and other great ideas too.

Elements of Style Swing Card

Today’s post is yet another card we made at the “Fancy Folds Card Class” the other night. It looks amazing in person and to the recipient because it’s so unusual.

To make this particular card, cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock to 5-1/2” x 6-3/4”. Then using the Vintage Vogue Wheel, I stamped the whole piece on both sides with Rich Razzleberry ink. I really like the vintage look so I also sponged the edges pretty far in with the same color. To create the swing, score the card on the long side at 2-3/4” and 4”. Turn the card and cut from 1-3/8” to the first score line at the 4-1/4” mark. The cut it from the the score line to 5-3/8” on the same 4-1/4” mark. Turn the card around and repeat on the opposite side. Then with the long side at the top of your paper cutter, connect the cut lines on both sides. To create the “look”, fold the right side of the card to the front and then the left side of the card to the back. Remember to keep the rectangle in the middle in tact---do not fold it. It’s the part you decorate!pic

(uh, this chart is NOT to scale….hee hee)

I stamped a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock with images from the Elements of Style stamp set in Rich Razzleberry and Pretty in Pink. This piece was matted onto Pretty in Pink card stock and mounted onto the rectangle in the middle of the card. Repeat this on both sides so that when your card “swings” it is decorated!

Then, GO WILD! Tie a ribbon, add a brad – now it’s time for your creativity to take over. This card when finished is standard size and fits right into the normal card-size envelopes.

You can still take the “Fancy Folds” class on August 28 at the “Make Up Morning” class. Just let me know you want to attend. Cost is $10 and you’ll need your own personal paper trimmer, paper snips and adhesive.

Friends Never Fade Stair Step Card

Today’s post is one of the cards we made at the FANCY FOLDS CARD CLASS last night. The original concept for the side-step card came from Jackie Topa but you can find lots of examples of this style card all over the internet. When Jackie creates something it is always CASED everywhere and today will not be an exception!

It’s easy to get in a rut and make the same ole’ simple card over and over so I love this style because it’s so unusual. It still fits in to the regular size envelope for mailing but is so fun for displaying.

The images on this card are from the beautiful “Friends Never Fade” stamp set and the “Ornate Blossom” stamp set. The designer paper is “Woodland Walk.” Click HERE to shop now for these gorgeous products.

Here’s the measurements to make your own card:

pic

1. Card is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2

2. Scored at 1”, 2”, 3-1/8, 4-1/4, 6-3/8

3. Cut from 1” to 6-3/8” at 2” (The two inch mark is where my card was made. It is variable depending on the size you want the main panel to be. The picture shows 3”)

Confused? You can still take this class on August 28 at the “Make Up Morning” class. Just let me know you want to attend. Cost is $10 and you’ll need your own personal paper trimmer, paper snips and adhesive. Have fun creating!

Island Oasis Altered Mini Composition Book

Have I mentioned how much I love my middle daughter, Emily, lately? She is seventeen and a Senior in high school this year. Such a joy and gift and I love her to pieces. This little journal was just for her! (That’s what the “E” is for!)

I altered a mini composition book like the ones pictured here. They are Office Depot Mini Marble Composition Bookusually sold in packs of 4 at places like Office Depot or Staples. The one I covered is about 4-1/2” by 3-1/4” so it makes the cutest little journal!

I covered this one in some Designer Series Paper from the Summer Mini Occasions Catalog, “Island Oasis” using a glue stick. The binding is Rose Red card stock that I stamped with the flowers from the “Tropical Party” stamp set that I KEEP showing you on here! (Smile.) I then sponged all the edges and added another strip of Designer paper from the same pack to coordinate. I stamped the palm tree from the same stamp set onto the little piece of Whisper White that is matted with Pumpkin Pie card stock that has been punched with a scallop border. I stamped the tree image again onto a small scrap of Old Olive card stock, cut it out and layered onto the image to give it dimension.

Added a covered (with more designer paper from Island Oasis pack) chipboard letter “e” (for Emily) and a pretty button from the Designer Buttons package. The ribbon is retired but I think this little project turned out awfully cute. And it was done in like thirty minutes……Perfect for party favors, little appreciation gifts, etc.

Island Oasis One More Time

Just a quickie “share” today! Today’s cards highlight the “Island Oasis” Designer Series Paper from the Summer Mini Catalog. REMEMBER! The last day to order from the Mini is August 31 so don’t delay! The first card also has a sentiment from the stamp set “Great Friend and a cute little coconut drink image from the stamp set “Tropical Party.” (Also not available after August 31.)

Okay!….same set of paper, “Island Oasis” but totally different look. Do you like it? Notice the rhinestones in the middle of the tropical flowers from the same “Tropical Party” stamp set as above. I love the look of both cards!

NOW – which one is your favorite? Comment below and let me know you’re out there! :)
