Mojo Monday #102

I LOVE sketch challenges but am so OCD that if I don't have time to do them on the right day then I won't do them at all! Today, though, I actually did the Mojo Monday Challenge on Monday twice so here they are! If that's not enough, I used the same designer paper on both cards too for more fun. Hope you like them and try the sketch out yourself.

The top card has a really cool distressed look and this is done by distressing and inking the edges with Basic gray ink. I also crumpled the designer paper up and sanded it so the white would show and then inked them with a stamping sponge and basic gray ink.

Here's the sketch for you to try!

Top Card:

Stamps: Sense of Time
Ink: Jet Black Staz On
Papers: Nouveau Chic DSP, Basic Gray, Sage Shadow, Very Vanilla Card Stock
Embellishments: 5/8" Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Black brad, Vintage brad
Cool Tools: Photo Corners punch, Designer Label Punch, Sanding Blocks, Stamping Sponges

Second Card:

Stamps: Asian Artistry (Hostess Level 2)
Ink: Sage Shadow, More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, Basic Gray Classic Inks
Paper: Nouveau Chic DSP, Sage Shadow, Very Vanilla Card Stock
Embellishments: (Non Stampin Up Bling), Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

Embossed Window Sheets

Check out the little window in today's card! I had fun playing with my window sheets and trying some new ideas. To create this look, I embossed a piece of the medium window sheet with the textured embossing folder, Elegant Bouquet, and then sanded it lightly so it looks a little "etched." Click on the picture to zoom in closer. The twill tape has been stamped with classic ink and I LOVE that look - - kinda "natural!"

The second picture to the right is of the inside top of the card so you can see how I covered up the window portion. I used my punches to create the framed look and i think the whole thing turned out kinda cool.

Asian Artistry Hostess Only!

Today's post will be a quick one! This card doesn't use any designer paper which is really unusual for me since I use the papers for inspiration so often! The More Mustard card stock that the stamped image is mounted on was distressed to appear like leather. Here's how!
  1. Immerse the card stock in water.
  2. Wad the paper up into a ball (you know, like trash).
  3. Open the ball up carefully and repeat steps 2-3 if desired.
  4. Open the ball up carefully and allow to dry until it's just slightly damp.
  5. Iron the paper carefully if desired.

Have fun!

Friends Rock

Today's post shows off the Stampin' Up! In-Colors again. This time it's Crushed Curry, and Bermuda Bay. I've combined them with Read Red and White for a fun combination. I've used some new accessories and tools here too that I'll describe for you in the directions to make this card:

1. Cut a piece of the Crushed Curry card stock to 5-1/2"x11" and fold in half for the card base.

2. Using the Big Shot and the new Bigz Clear Die, Scallop Square (115950, 21.95), cut out a scallop square using Bermuda Bay card stock. Trim off two sides of the square to fit on the card and adhere to the card base as shown in the picture.

3. Using the Scallop Square Punch (112081, 15.95), punch out a square of the Crushed Curry card stock and adhere to the center of the scalloped square as shown in the picture.

4. Stamp the "Hey, Friend" sentiment from the stamp set, Friends Rock (113816, 18.95), in Versamark ink (102283, 7.50) and emboss with White Embossing Powder (109132, 4.75).

5. Using the Heart to Heart Punch (113694, 15.95), punch out hearts from the Real Red card stock and from printed window sheets.

6. Tie a length of 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (115608, Real Red, 8.95) across the top of the card.

7. Punch a small hole in the hearts and thread them on a piece of Linen Thread (104199, 4.50). Tie these onto the Polka-Dot Ribbon.

8. Using Mini Glue Dots (103683, 4.95) adhere two of the Fleurettes II crochet flowers (115604, 9.95) to right of the card.

9. Thread a piece of the linen thread through two buttons from the Playground Designer Buttons set (116313, 7.95) and attach to the crochet flowers with mini glue dots.

The "Friends Rock" stamp set is part of the Growing Up Collection from Stampin' Up and qualifies for the following:

Beautiful Butterflies

Today's post is a card made using one of my favorite stamp sets, Simple Friendship. I think the butterfly and sentiment are so pretty and so easy to use! The colors are inspired by the new Designer Series Paper, "Cottage Wall" and are, again, so pretty and feminine.

How to:

1. Cut Whisper White Card Stock to 5-1/2"x8-1/2". Fold it in half on the 8-1/2" side. This will be the card base.
2. Cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock to 5-1/4" x 1-1/2". Using the Eyelet Border Punch, trim the long edge for a lacy design.
3. Cut a piece of Cottage Wall Designer Paper to 5-1/4"x 3-3/4".
4. Adhere the eyelet border to the the DSP using Snail Adhesive.
5. Attach a 6" piece of Whisper White organza ribbon to the DSP as shown in the picture. Run a small piece of snail adhesive on the back side of each end of the DSP and attach the ribbon.
6. Stick the DSP with the ribbon and eyelet border to the Card base.
7. Stamp the butterfly and the circle sentiment from the Simple Friendship stamp set in Rich Razzleberry onto scraps of Whisper White Card Stock.
8. Cut out the butterfly using paper snips and attach to the front of the card on the top right overlapping the ribbon.
9. Using Blender pens, color in the floral pattern on the circle sentiment using Orchid Opulence and Old Olive inks.
10. Run a 1-3/4"x 3-1/2" piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock through the Big Shot using the Stampin Up Backgrounds Texture Plate with the large polka dots. Lightly sand paper to highlight the texture. Attach piece to the front bottom of the card.
11. Using the 1-3/4" circle punch, cut out the sentiment and attach to the bottom left of the card with Stampin Dimensionals.
