I love the new Stampin' Up! In-Colors family of card stock, inks, markers and ribbon. They are gorgeous together but it is so fun to combine them with unexpected colors from the original four family of Stampin' Up! exclusive colors. These are the new In-Colors that will be introduced in the new catalog tomorrow and available only for one year.

I say it over and over but the greatest advantage of using all of the Stampin' Up! exclusive products is that they coordinate with each other perfectly. The card posted today combines the new color, Bermuda Bay, with old favorites, Cameo Coral and Certainly Celery for a fresh look. The center panel was created using the stamp set, Circle Circus, available tomorrow. The images were stamped randomly in the three colors mentioned then I applied Dazzling Diamonds to the Cameo Coral circles for a little dimension. I inked the edges with Certainly Celery before adhering it to the card and i think the overall effect is pretty cool!

***Notice that the inked images coordinate perfectly with the card stock and Designer Series paper. LOVE IT!

Make your own embellishments

Today's post is a card I made without stamps because I was experimenting with making embellishments. I was inspired by Michelle Wooderson, (you can check her out on her blog, "Mish Mash" here), who has created some amazing designs using ribbons and buttons. The ribbon and button technique shown here is her design and I adore it!

I used punches to create the various layers and especially enjoyed playing with the NEW PUNCH that will be released in the upcoming catalog on July 1 called "Modern Label Punch." These layers would work really well for gift tags, cards like the one shown, embellishments on scrapbook pages or gifts. The possibilities are endless!

To create the embellishments on the card shown,

  • I punched three separate pieces of the Modern Label Punch and the Scalloped Square punch. The Scalloped Square was adhered to the Modern Label using Snail Adhesive.
  • Using a paper piercer, I punched holes in each end of each Modern Label and inserted a brad. I did not need to trim the "legs" of the brads in this case.
  • On two of the squares, I punched out 1" circles from DSP and adhered with Snail Adhesive.
  • On the middle square, I used a clear button, ribbon and linen thread.

  • To create the button and thread embellishment, I threaded the linen thread through the button and tied it around the ribbon. (See the pictures below)

Try this cool ribbon embellishment technique and come up with a few of your own! I would love to see yours!

Paper: Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst, Pink Pirouette Card Stock(RETIRING! NO LONGER AVAILABLE! To purchase Pink Pirouette, you can still get 12x12 Textured In-Color Paper while supplies last until June 30), Bella Birds DSP (ALSO RETIRING! NOT AVAILABLE AFTER JUNE 30!)

New Catalog Sneak Peek

I can't WAIT for you to see the new catalog! We lucky demo-types get to pre-order some of the stamp sets from the catalog before it's released July 1. Today's post is a card I made using some "old supplies" and the new stamp set "Circle Circus."

  • I layered the RETIRING Taste of Textiles paper onto a card base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. (The Taste of Textiles paper will no longer be available after June 30!)
  • Next I stamped two images in Versamark onto Basic Black Card Stock and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.
  • The large textured scallop circle and the scallop edge at the bottom are pieces from Canvas Cuts. The pieces are already cut and ready to use! Canvas Cuts are RETIRING and will no longer be available after June 30! Get them NOW while they are 50% OFF!
  • On top of the scallop circle is a basic black scallop circle cut using the scallop circle punch and then adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals
  • The stamped image was also cut out using the 1-3/8" Circle punch and was stamped with Jet Black Staz-On Ink. (My favorite for a nice clean crisp image.)
  • The "Love" sentiment on the side is a rub-on from the Summer Love rub-ons in the most recent Occasions Mini Catalog
  • To give the card a finished look, a piece of Kraft Taffeta Ribbon.
