Pickled Christmas Tradition

Okay, a couple of people have asked WHY IN THE WORLD we have a pickle ornament at the Brasher household? Well, the story goes that it's a very old Christmas eve tradition in Germany to hide a pickle deep in the branches of the family Christmas Tree. In the morning every parent knew that the observant child who found it would receive an extra gift from St. Nicholas. The first adult who finds the pickle traditionally gets good luck for the whole year.

Well, we make our traditions, of course, and the family member that finds our pickle gets to open the first present, then it's WILD PANDEMONIUM!

Click here to buy your own Old World Christmas pickle ornament and start your own tradition. It's about $5.00 or so.

Hey, we have one of those. ;)
Unleashing little kids to find it is a scary thought, though....
